If one has seen the films Bordwell talks about, they can get a better understand and perspective. The Way Hollywood Tells It: Film Style and Mode of Production to The Classical Hollywood Cinema by the same author, if I wanted to read an encyclopedia of dry film facts, I would have found a different book.
