The amount of information shown on a flow-sheet will depend on the custom and practice of the particular design office. If they are then shown on the flow-sheet, they are available for use by the specialist design groups responsible for the subsequent detailed design.

The data on the flow-rate of each individual component, on the total stream flow-rate, and the percentage composition, can be shown on the flow-sheet in various ways. Only a limited amount of information can be shown in this way, and it is difficult to make neat alterations or to add additional data.
