This first-rate, philosophical journey, a terrific example of idea-driven SF, should have wide appeal. The range of visions is astounding–those who would be asleep in the future saw psychedelic dream landscapes, while others saw nothing at all presumably they’d be dead.

I also always enjoy when sci-fi books can teach me some interesting science lessons while still making it fun. The idea for the novel, however, is what sets it apart– everyone has a flash forward at the same time and of the same time in the future.
One of the main character gives a very scientific arguement that the future is set and that it can’t be changed. Would you want a flashforward? Soon, the physicists who caused the Flashforward are struggling to help the world decide whether the future is changeable–and whether the experiment is worth repeating.
